Just got the latest Design Within Reach catalog in the mail and it’s a real departure. Furniture is only half the catalog (and the back half at that), and the rest is “knick-nacks”. Small kitchen gadgets, house accessories, a few toys, stationary, and so on. It’s probably smart that they are diversifying out of big-ticket items, especially with the current economy. But the aesthetic of the product selection is reminiscent of something… As my wife put it, “DWR’s gone all Muji”.
